Attractions
With dozens of options to choose from, we have divided the area's attraction into two categories: 1) major theme parks, 2) other Orlando attractions. While nearly all Orlando visitors see Disney and the other major theme parks, some of the best entertainment values in Florida lie outside their gates. For families with small children, the smaller attractions often provide a more manageable day of fun in Florida's vacation capital.
Outside Orlando
By mid-week of a typical vacation, you are ready for a change of pace but you don't want to research and plan a side trip. Relax. We've planned six day trips (honest, you can do each one in a day) ranging in interest from the natural (Mt. Dora/Wekiwa
Springs)
to inspirational (Kennedy Space Center) to educational (Florida Aquarium/Museum of Science and
Industry MOSI)
.
Florida's Big Springs
Huge freshwater springs dot the landscape of central and northern Florida, providing vacations with a refreshing natural diversion from the theme parks of Orlando. During the winter months, endangered manatees take shelter in the warm crystal-clear waters. Swim, snorkle, and dive in these remarkable works of nature.

Florida State Parks
Take a walk on the wild side at several nearby Florida State Parks. Canoeing, inner-tubing, springs diving, hiking, camping, and biking will bring you closer to the natural Florida that you've heard about.
Theme Parks
Vacationers come to Orlando each year for one main reason - the theme parks. While nearly everyone visits Walt Disney World, don't miss the other fascinating attractions in Central Florida. Check out our overview of the major Orlando Parks so that you can begin organizing your vacation.
